Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 8, 2026
MyRunningPal (“the App,” “we,” “us”) is a running-training application that builds a personalized training plan toward a distance goal, adapts it as you log runs, tracks your runs with GPS, and shows a readiness picture across distances. We are committed to protecting your privacy and collecting only the data needed to provide these features. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how it is used and stored, and the choices you have.
Accounts and Cloud Sync
MyRunningPal requires an account so your data can sync securely across your devices and be restored if you reinstall the App.
When you create an account, we collect and store:
- Your email address and password (your password is handled by our authentication provider using secure hashing; we never see or store it in plain text)
- The profile details you enter during onboarding — such as your running background, current fitness or benchmark efforts, unit preference, and goal
- The data you create in the App — your training plans, logged and tracked runs (including route, distance, duration, pace, and splits), readiness and fitness estimates, goals, completed-goal history, and settings
This information is stored on secure cloud servers operated by our backend provider, Supabase, so it can sync to your account. Recent data may also be cached on your device for offline use.
Location Data (GPS Run Tracking)
If you use the in-app run tracker, MyRunningPal collects precise location (GPS) to record your route, distance, and pace during a run.
- With your permission, tracking continues in the background — while the App is not on screen and while your device is locked — so your run keeps recording accurately while the phone is in your pocket. This is the purpose of the “Always” location permission.
- Your route is stored with the run in your account so you can review where you ran and so the run can be shown on a map.
- Location is used only to record your runs. We do not use your location for advertising and do not share it with third parties for marketing.
- You can deny or revoke location access at any time in your device Settings. Without it, in-app GPS tracking will not function, but you can still log runs manually and import runs from Apple Health.
Apple Health (HealthKit)
With your permission, MyRunningPal integrates with Apple Health:
- Read: the App reads your running/jogging workouts from Apple Health so runs you record in other apps can appear in MyRunningPal and count toward your plan.
- Write: runs you record in MyRunningPal (tracked or manually entered) are written back to Apple Health as workouts, so other apps you use — such as nutrition trackers and activity rings — can see that you completed the run.
- Apple Health data is processed to provide these features. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising, and we do not share it with third parties for marketing.
- You can deny or revoke Health access at any time in your device Settings or the Health app.
How We Use Your Data
- To provide core features: generating and adapting your training plan, logging and tracking runs, computing readiness and fitness, and syncing and restoring your data
- To operate your account and authenticate you
- To generate and adapt your personalized training plan using AI (see below)
- To manage your subscription and verify Pro access
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising, and the App contains no ads.
AI-Generated Training Plans
MyRunningPal uses AI to generate your initial training plan and to adapt it as your training progresses.
- To produce or update a plan, a snapshot of relevant data from your account (such as your goal, fitness estimate, training preferences, and your progress against the plan) is sent to a third-party AI provider (Google, via its Gemini API) for processing, through our secure servers.
- This data is processed to generate a result that is returned to your account. It is used to provide the feature, not to train third-party models on your personal data.
- Your training paces and readiness are computed by the App using standard running formulas — this computation happens without sending data to the AI provider.
- AI-generated training plans and guidance are for general informational purposes only and may be inaccurate. They are not medical or professional advice. Always consult a qualified professional before beginning or changing an exercise program.
Subscriptions
MyRunningPal offers an optional paid subscription (“Pro”). Subscriptions and Pro access are managed through RevenueCat together with Apple’s App Store. To provide and verify your subscription, RevenueCat receives your account identifier and email, your purchase and receipt information, and standard device information (such as a device identifier and operating-system version). Payment is processed by Apple; we do not receive or store your payment-card details.
Third-Party Services (Subprocessors)
We use the following services to operate the App:
- Supabase — secure cloud database, authentication, and sync
- Google (Gemini API) — AI processing for training-plan generation and adaptation, accessed only through our secure servers (your data is sent for processing; our API keys are never stored in the App)
- RevenueCat — subscription management and Pro entitlement verification (receives your account ID and email, purchase and receipt data, and standard device information)
- Expo / EAS — app updates (receives a per-install identifier and app version when checking for updates)
- Apple — HealthKit integration (described above)
What We Do NOT Do
- We do not use analytics or usage-tracking tools.
- We do not use crash-reporting tools in released versions of the App.
- We do not use advertising identifiers (no IDFA), the App contains no ads, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- We do not sell your personal data.
Device Permissions
Location
Purpose: to track your runs (route, distance, pace), including in the background while your device is locked.
Control: you can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
Motion & Fitness / Apple Health
Purpose: to read your running workouts from Apple Health and to write runs you record in the App back to Apple Health.
Control: you can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings or the Health app. We do not use Health data for advertising or share it for marketing.
Data Retention and Deletion
- You can delete your account directly in the App. Deleting your account removes your personal data from our servers.
- Uninstalling the App removes data cached on your device, but does not by itself delete your account. To remove your cloud data, use the in-app account deletion option.
- Runs written to Apple Health remain in Apple Health unless you delete them there; deleting a run in the App also removes the copy the App wrote to Apple Health.
Children’s Privacy
MyRunningPal is not intended for children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
